4 Questions to Ask your Real Estate Leads

Congratulations, you’ve got a new lead for your real estate business! If you are not sure about how you should approach this prospective client, we’ve got you covered. Like how real estate clients ask relevant questions to their agents, it is equally important for real estate agents to ask questions to their clients. This will help you learn more about the needs and objectives of your client and help make the real estate transaction go smoothly.

If you don’t know where to start, here are 4 questions to ask your real estate leads:

1. What are your expectations?

The first thing that you should do when talking to a new client is set expectations. And the only way for you to know their expectations is by asking them. A client most likely came up to you with limited knowledge about real estate. Asking for their expectations could help you set realistic benchmarks and educate them on what they could expect from you as well.

2. Why is now the ideal time to buy or sell for you?

By asking this question, you get to learn about your client’s motivation in buying/selling a property. This will give you an insight into how you can make a better deal for them. Furthermore, this will give you an idea of the client’s timeline – are they still in the planning stage or are they already looking to close a deal soon?

3,. What are your needs vs. wants in buying or selling a property?

When buying or selling a property, it is important to establish the client’s wants and needs. By identifying these early in the home buying/selling process, it will help them understand that there are some compromises that they may have to make along the way. As an agent, knowing their negotiables and non-negotiables will also help in recommending the right property options or strategies for your client.

4. Are you financially qualified?

Although this may seem straightforward, this is actually one of the most important things to know about your potential client. This will help you identify serious buyers and sellers. Also, knowing your client’s financial capacity will greatly help you in choosing the right steps to take in their real estate journey.
